Sometimes 2 weeks truly is a lifetime!

Roanoke Valley SPCA has made a commitment to saving as many as possible.

Pregnant dogs and cats deserve a chance to give birth to their babies in warmth and comfort. Infant and orphaned puppies and kittens deserve a chance to grow and thrive so that they may become valued members of a family.

Foster Care

Often the shelter takes in animals in need of extra care and attention, such as orphaned animals, newborn litters of puppies or kittens, and animals recovering from illness or injuries. Volunteers who have filled out an application and have been approved as foster care givers provide the extra TLC these animals require until they are ready for adoption. This volunteer activity requires extra time and commitment, but is very rewarding!

Our Foster Families:

Many of our foster families volunteer time and time again to give the infant and orphaned animals the chance at life that they deserve. Click here to see a video prepared by one of our foster families. These pictures say it all!

Cleo gave birth to 8 healthy pups while in foster care. Because the RVSPCA does not have the space to house Cleo while her babies are this young, foster care gives them the opportunity to grow and thrive.
