Spay/Neuter Is the Only Answer
Stem the tide of euthanasia of homeless & unwanted animals.
Barbara Dalhouse, president of the Board of Directors of the Roanoke Valley SPCA, has written a commentary piece that explains the relaltionship between the RVSPCA and the Regional Center for Animal Control & Protection - commonly known as the Pound.
The commentary piece was published in The Roanoke Times on March 19, 2011, and can be read by clicking here.
The topic of euthanasia of cats and dogs at the Pound is a complicated one; full of emotion, facts and figures. Due to space limitations, the original commentary piece had to be heavily edited, and much important information was left out. We have attached the commentary in its entirety.
We welcome the opportunity to meet with anyone wishing more information, or with ideas on how we can work together to save more animal lives.

Cats deserve better! One half of the cats housed at the Regional Center for Animal Control are under the age of 6 months. Aggressive tactics must be employed to spay or neuter all cats in our community to prevent more from being born...only to become unwanted.
