Help us to help them!

The Roanoke Valley SPCA relies on the generosity of the community for the funding necessary to care for thousands of animals throughout the year. You can prove your love of animals by making a tax-deductible donation to our general operating fund, or specify how you would like your contribution to be used. No amount is too large…or too small. Read over the attached document that outlines the many ways you can help the animals today...and in the future.

Pet Patrons pledge monthly support for the animals. In return, they receive regular photos and reports on the loving pets currently residing in "their" cage. Consider this option as you look over the multitude of services provided by the RVSPCA.

Celebrate a birthday, anniversary or other event with the animals being the beneficiary. In addition to cash donations, we are always in need of the supplies necessary to care for the animals. Check out our Wish List to see what items are especially needed.

Hold a food drive at your place of business, church or community group.  The RVSPCA PET (Pets Eat Too) Program provides pet food to recipients of Meals on Wheels and Carilion Hospice patients, as well as Bethel Baptist Church, Botetourt County, Lake Christian Ministries, and Manna Ministries for distribution at their food pantries.  More than 65,000 pounds of pet food per year is needed to feed the pets and keep people and pets united in our community.

Make a donation to one of our designated funds:

Cash donations to the PET (Pets Eat Too) Program are used to purchase pet food when supplies of donated food run low.  Food purchased with these funds is used to fulfill our commitment to feed the hungry pets of the Meals on Wheels recipients, Manna Ministries, Bethel Baptist Church, Botetourt County, and Lake Christian Ministries food pantries.  Carilion hospice patients can rest easier knowing that their pets will receive food through the PET Program.

The Ann Marie Sweeney Memorial Foster Fund, developed in memory of the person responsible for building the RVSPCA foster care program.  Gifts to this fund will help with the expenses associated with expansion of the program, giving more animals the second chance at life that they deserve through temporary foster care.

The Sara Jane & Mickey Second Chance Fund provides for medical procedures outside the scope of the RVSPCA that will greatly enhance the adoptability of a deserving animal.

The Robin Smith Noah's Ark Memorial Fund provides funding to help offset the cost of microchipping all RVSPCA pets, so that they may never be lost again.

Join the newly formed Legacy Society

So many of us have been touched by the unconditional love of an animal and want to help guarantee that the RVSPCA will continue to provide food, shelter and medical care to the homeless and unwanted animals well into the future. There are many ways to create a lasting memorial with a planned gift through your estate. A financial advisor, attorney, and/or estate planner can help you determine which type of gift is best for you. Read over the information regarding the Tax Relief Act of 2012 and how it can help the animals at the RVSPCA.  Download our "Legacy of Caring" brochure, or call the Director of Development, 540.339.9503, for suggestions on how you can help .

Every Day Ways to Help the RVSPCA

It's easy and convenient to help the animals as you go about your daily business. Our Every Day Ways to Help the SPCA flyer explains it all.

There's no age limit on who can support the RVSPCA. The boy on the left in this photo celebrated his seventh birthday by having guests at his party bring donations for the animals instead of gifts for himself.

Others have recognized the importance of helping the animals by requesting donations instead of personal gifts for weddings and/or anniversaries.

Having a soft, comfortable bed to rest on greatly reduces stress in shelter dogs.  You can help by donating a bed through the Kuranda Company.  Your donation comes directly to the RVSPCA and is 30% below normal retail prices.
