Have you ever wondered how our Community Cat Crew volunteers “target” one specific cat when they are humanely trapping? Or what if you have a cat who is already spayed that keeps going for your bait? Sometimes, you might even be trying to cat a momma cat and her kittens together.

What happens in these situations where the ‘traditional’ humane trap isn’t a good option? We bring out something special: the drop trap! The drop trap lives up to its name – it’s literally a large wire “box” propped up with a string tied to it, so you can pull the prop out and “drop” the trap to cover the cat(s) you need. Just imagine the “Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner” cartoons with less anvils!

The drop trap is an amazing specialized tool that we highly recommend any serious trappers look into.

And if you need help with that extra-evasive cat, contact Erin Dams at edams@rvspca.org or 540-339-9503 to look into the Community Cat Crew program!
