Paws To Read
June 26, 2019 | 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Paws-to-Read Program is a mutually beneficial experience for children and our shelter pets. It is designed to help children improve their reading skills in a judgement-free zone while also helping the shelter animals by providing socialization and human interaction. Every Wednesday at 11:00 AM children and their parents gather in our meeting room to listen to a pet-themed story read by one of our staff members. The children are then given the opportunity to practice their reading skills with a pet, brightening pet’s day in the process. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite books from home or choose a book from our collection. The program is free of charge, but has limited availability on a week-by- week basis. If interested, please email or call Ruth Pierce at (540) 339-9506 or rpierce@rvspca.org in order to secure your spot in a specific session.
