The Roanoke Valley SPCA proudly partners with Pets for Patriots, an organization that aims to place dogs and cats most at risk of chronic homelessness into loving military homes, while nurturing the powerful bond between people and their companion animals. They work nationwide to build a network of shelter, rescue, and veterinary partners who share their values, promote adoption as the only humane and moral alternative to buying or breeding animals, reduce pet surrender, and support Gold Star families. Their vision is a day when every shelter pet has a loving home and every hero and hero family has a loving pet.
Through this program, the Roanoke Valley SPCA offers veterans and spouses of fallen service members:
- 50% off adoption fees for cats
- two training services for adopted dogs

Pets for Patriots also offers discounts from veterinary partners and access to veterinary telehealth care, member-only savings on everyday pet supplies, insurance, food and more, and a $200 pet retailer gift card to help buy starter pet food and supplies.
