About Leonard
Leonard is an amazing dog and has grown and been with me since he was just 7 weeks old. I have invested time and effort into his training, and he has already completed training classes with major potential for even more. I am even currently enrolled in training classes at Field of Dreams until July, and if he is adopted before then, I would be happy to work with potential adopters and the trainers further.
Leo can be a bit defensive and has guarding tendencies that we haven’t been able to break. However, with the right person and training, he can make a great companion. He loves hiking and playing in the backyard, and he would be a great backyard or farm dog with the right situation. While he may not be the best fit for first-time dog owners, he would thrive with someone who has experience with this type of dog and breed.
I love Leo to the moon and back, but I’ve realized that this may not be the best fit for him. I want him to find a loving home where he can reach his full potential.

Behavioral Concerns: Leonard has shown potential aggression towards strangers and other dogs. When he is in the presence of unfamiliar males especially, he can display defensive behaviors and may react with aggression. Additionally, he can exhibit signs of anxiety in certain situations. It is important to note that he has not caused any serious incidents, but his behavior requires careful management and ongoing training.
Afraid of: Leo is afraid of other dogs, unknown strangers depending on demeanor and familiarity.
Games like to play: Leonard and I are regular walkers and avid hikers. He gets very excited going up to Mill Mountain and getting a good hike in. He's also always ready to run around in the backyard and specifically loves playing with the frisbee and occasional ball.
If children, ages: Little to no experience with children. He is an anxious dog and would not handle their unpredictability very well
