Why rehoming: We adopted him from the RCACP last March and we were not informed anything from his past or even his temperament. We quickly learned he has very bad anxiety. After a week of having him he chewed completely through his kennel and cut him self up in the process. I had to take him to the vet to get stitches from the cuts. He was getting into things (more than a puppy usually should) and he was escaping our yard. I tried to surrender him back to the RCACP in June and was told that he would be euthanized and of course I do not want that. We have tried again for almost a year and thought things were getting better but recently we have discovered that it is no longer working. With his high energy and anxiety it has been very difficult for us. He has chewed up our new fence, has escaped the yard multiple times, and has dug up our whole entire yard (all while not being outside long). If he is not being watched, he will get into everything. He is a very sweet boy and he does great when he is right near us but with 2 children and multiple other pets I feel he is not getting the attention and focus that he deserves. We have tried training him ourselves and medically managing with Trazodone and gabapentin and nothing has helped. Unfortunately we have not had the extra funds for professional training or a behaviorist. I believe that with the right training and a family that has more time to spend with him, he will be the best family pet.
