Dot’s Drive-Thru Pet Food Pantry
The Roanoke Valley SPCA has established a monthly drive-through pet food pantry. Dot’s Drive-Thru will take place on the second Sunday each month, from 12:00PM to 2:00PM in the shelter parking lot, and offer cat and dog food to anyone who needs it. This program is available for pets in the following areas: Botetourt, Craig and Roanoke Counties as well as the cities of Salem and Roanoke and the town of Vinton.
In an effort to help as many families as possible, there will be no complex paperwork to fill out, and community members will not need to get out of their cars. Staff and volunteers will ask the pet guardians to fill out a simple ticket with basic pet information – including how many cats and dogs are in the recipient’s household, and the weights of the dogs. Staff can then calculate the amount of food needed and place the food in the family’s back seat or trunk.
You can help us to keep pets and people united by holding a pet food drive at your place of business. You can also bring donated food directly to the Roanoke Valley SPCA. For more information about Dot’s Drive-Thru, please call 540-339-9247.

We are able to provide this assistance because of a generous gift left to the Roanoke Valley SPCA by long-time friend, Dorothy Hannaford, who went by the name “Dot”. We hope that this program will help lessen the burden pet owners in our community are feeling due to the financial uncertainty caused by COVID-19.
