We maintain that spaying, neutering, and humane education are the solutions to homeless animals.
Microchipping
Prevention is the key to keeping pets out of shelters. All animals at the Roanoke Valley SPCA have been microchipped so that they can always be reunited with their owners. We also offer microchipping on our mobile spay/neuter clinic and in our Christiansburg clinic. Reunion with your found pet is easy if you keep your contact information up to date. Community Cat Programs (TNR)
TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is a humane approach to reducing homeless cat populations by spaying and neutering as many as possible, and then returning them to their outdoor homes.
