At the Roanoke Valley SPCA, we believe in the power of compassion, resilience, and unwavering support for our furry friends. Each day, we provide a safe haven, medical care, and love to animals in need. As the calendar year comes to a close, we’ve been reflecting on the first five months of our fiscal year (July 1 – Nov. 30), and we can’t help but feel immense gratitude for the incredible support from our community. Your unwavering dedication has allowed us to continue our vital work, and we want to share the impact we’ve made together.

In the past five months alone, we’ve welcomed 131 dogs and 217 cats into our shelter, providing them with the care and attention they deserve. Every furry friend that walks through our doors receives not just shelter, but medical support too. We’re thrilled to have provided 827 comprehensive medical exams, ensuring each animal’s health and well-being is a top priority.

Moreover, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to perform 250 spay and neuter surgeries, contributing significantly to controlling the pet population and promoting responsible pet ownership within our community.

But the real heartwarming success lies in the 420 adoptions we’ve facilitated. These are moments that make our hearts swell with joy – seeing our beloved animals find loving forever homes brings immeasurable happiness to us all.

We’ve gone the extra mile to support owned animals needing special care, so they can avoid being relinquished to the shelter. Financial assistance for veterinary expenses was provided through our C.A.Re Fund to 17 animals, ensuring they received life-saving medical treatments. Additionally, 9 owned animals received financial assistance for behavioral support through the Judith Goins Behavior Assistance Program, helping them overcome challenges, thrive in their new environments, and remain in their loving homes.

Our dedication extends beyond the shelter walls. We’ve brought joy and companionship to seniors by visiting 26 senior centers, fostering human-animal connections that brighten days and warm hearts.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity and support from our volunteers, donors, and supporters like you. Your contributions, whether big or small, have created ripples of change and hope in the lives of countless animals.

As we look forward to the new year, we remain committed to our mission of serving animals and communities. Together, we are a force for good, and together, we’ll continue making a difference, one wagging tail and purring friend at a time.

Thank you for being the driving force behind our endeavors. Your unwavering support keeps our doors open and our hearts full.

Warmest regards,

Denise Hayes
